Transport service for Schweinfurt dealers

Three regional companies have launched a courier service to give local retailers a quick way to continue selling to their customers in Schweinfurt and the surrounding area. Schäflein AG from Röthlein delivers goods weighing up to 500 kilograms on the same day. EIKONA AG and Fleetboard Logistics from Volkach provide the software free of charge. The city of Schweinfurt is also providing support.

Many retailers in the Lower Franconian town of Schweinfurt have had to close their shops due to the current restrictions in Bavaria. In order to offer them a way to deliver goods to their customers in the city or the surrounding district, Schäflein AG has launched a low-cost courier service. For a fee of between 4.50 euros and 35 euros, the logistics company delivers goods weighing up to 500 kilograms on the same day. It’s easy to use: retailers place binding transport orders on the schaefleincity.de website, enter their collection and delivery address and off they go.
The Sennfeld-based bicycle manufacturer WINORA-STAIGER is providing HAIBIKE e-bikes including cargo trailers free of charge for the new service. This means that the majority of journeys are quick and emission-free. Goods weighing up to 150 kilograms are also transported by car, while the logistics company uses vans for products weighing up to 500 kilograms.

Rent-free service centre, free IT solution

Schäflein was able to get the courier service off to a quick start with the support of two software providers from the region, who provided the service provider with a free IT solution. EIKONA AG and Fleetboard Logistics GmbH from Volkach have developed a combination of web portal and order management. EIKONA is responsible for order entry via the Internet and a data interface to HABBL. The couriers are controlled using the Fleetboard Logistics app. It runs on any Android smartphone and guides the individual driver through the transport process, including navigation to the recipient. It also transmits status information up to delivery and, during transport, the current position of the individual drivers to the associated web portal. “This combination also works for any other company. We are offering it free of charge to all logistics companies that want to support retailers during the economic restrictions,” explains Manuel Drescher, Managing Director of Fleetboard Logistics GmbH and member of the Supervisory Board of EIKONA AG. The city of Schweinfurt has provided a room in the start-up centre free of charge for the operations centre of the new courier service.
